Arts & Framing
‘Adding Variety to Putnam’s
Main Street’“
Every customer who walks in the door
has a story to tell...” says Sheri Sochor, owner of Arts & Framing
located at 112 Main Street, “that’s what I enjoy
most about being here.”
Although Putnam is known for its antiques, there
are many other businesses providing variety on Putnam’s
Main Street. Entrepreneurs like Sheri put their creativity to
work - furnishing that ‘finishing touch’ for customers
searching for something special.
Following a career in the corporate world, Sheri
turned a love for photography and a hobby into a second career.
How many of us have dreamed of doing the same? As a photographer,
Sheri has always been interested in art, and it was a natural
move for her to take over Arts & Framing. “A quality
frame completes a piece, whether it’s a painting, photograph,
or a document.” Sheri enjoys putting her eye to the test
helping her customers select the frame and matting that best
compliments their artwork and their home.
There is more to Arts & Framing than just
frames. Arts & Framing also provides restoration of antique
frames and paintings - giving them a second chance to shine.
The gallery walls are filled with the work of
local artists. “I am passionate about bringing new and
seasoned local artists to display their work here,” says
Sheri. Artwork is displayed in the front window on Main Street,
throughout the shop, loft and lobby.
“I love coming to work here. I want my
customers to enjoy the atmosphere and the ‘experience’ here
in Putnam,” says Sheri.

PRESS RELEASE:
"Nature's
Micro World"
Photography Exhibition
Putnam, CT, March 4, 2010 The Sochor Art Gallery in Putnam, CT,
is proud to host an exhibition of Photographer Ron Henault's
work. The show will open with an Artist's Reception on Sunday,
March 21, from 1-4 pm in the lobby of the Montgomery Ward Building
in downtown Putnam, featuring complimentary refreshments and
an opportunity to meet the artist.
Using small specimens with ethereal colors
as subjects, Henault interprets the micro-world of nature in
his unique art photography. His camera is fitted with a one-of-a-kind
lens he constructed from an assortment of discarded cameras.
The lens captures light, color and forms in a truly unique way.
These images are not Photoshopped or enhanced; this is what the
camera sensor sees through the lens. Henault explains, "Experimenting with lenses can produce
dramatic results and individually unique photos. I take hundreds
of photos of a hundred subjects yet choose only a handful of
them due to particular color, light or composition. It's hit
or miss and you do not know what you have until you look at the
photo." Henault is a self-taught artist who builds stone
walls for a living (works of art in themselves!) and lives in
North Grosvenordale, CT.
Henault's photography
will be on display and for sale at the Sochor Art Gallery in
Arts & Framing through July. His work
can be viewed Wednesday - Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 11-5 at 112
Main Street, Putnam. For more information visit www.artsandframingputnam.com
or call 860-963-0105.
